Science: The students were Geologists today and completed more readings and answering of questions to help them understand rocks, weathering, erosions, etc. The students were also able to look at many different type of rocks and determine what type of rock they are. Later in the afternoon, the students completed an online scavenger hunt for the rock cycle.






Social Studies: We discussed colonies and read and discussed questions.

Science: The students observed their Hydroponics System. Later we began discussing the rock cycle. The students watched a video and read and answered some questions to give them background knowledge of the rocks before beginning the PowerPoint. Later in the afternoon, I had the students take notes over the PowerPoint.





Social Studies: I have the students complete more group work of reading, discussing, and answering questions about colonies. 

Writing: I had the students write a creative story about a rock going through the complete rock cycle.

Science: The students are piloting a lesson from Kansas State Agriculture and created a Hydroponics system to try to grow wheat. We discussed what wheat is and its history through a PowerPoint and notes. The students also learned what Hydroponics is and the advantages and disadvantages of using the system.

Social Studies: The students were in groups to read and discuss questions about colonies from their Social Studies book.

Science: The students complete a scavenger hunt around the classroom and played an educational game to help them review for their test. Later in the afternoon, the students took their science test.

We did not switch classes today.

Science: Today we worked in centers. Each center had a different activity that focused on Natural Resources.






Social Studies: The students worked in groups to read and answer questions about colonies. We also discussed how to look for text features to help them find the answers. 

Writing: We continued writing our reports for Wax Museum.

We have been super busy with Wax Museum and State testing. This week and next week we are not switching classes. Each teacher is teaching every subject. 

Science: We have started discussing Natural Resources. Yesterday the students watched a short video and began taking notes over my PowerPoint. 

Today we are going to continue the PowerPoint and notes. We are also making a booklet and sorting pictures and definitions to help them better understand Natural Resources.




Social Studies: We are continuing Wax Museum. We will begin discussing colonies by reading, discussing, and answering questions from our Social Studies book. 

Writing: We are continuing writing our reports for Wax Museum.

Science: The students have been studying the water cycle. We watched videos, took notes, created a circle book, and today, we are having a scavenger hunt and reviewing for the test that will they will take tomorrow.

Science: The students are focusing on hydrology. Before spring break we discussed water distribution and are now learning the water cycle. Today we watched a short video and took notes of my PowerPoint.
Social Studies: Before spring break, the students began working on Wax Museum and are going to continue working on it everyday until finished. 

Writing: The students are writing their Wax Museum reports.

Science: The students have been in the lab dissecting owl pellets.

Social Studies: We have been working on Wax Museum and women in history.

Writing: We started a writing assignment about a few Dr. Seuss books and quotes.
February 21-28, 2017

Science: Last week, we took notes and discussed decomposers and reviewed for the test. The students had a substitute on Wednesday and Friday last week.

Social Studies: We continued discussing the Vikings and the students took an open note/open book test.

Writing: The students completed a few pages in their English books over conjunctions and run-on sentences.

Science: Today we continued discussing Photosynthesis and completed a couple worksheets to help us better understand the process of Photosynthesis.
Social Studies: Today we continued talking about the Vikings and discussed how they wrote using Runes. 

Writing: Today we discussed conjunctions and completed a writing assignment to help them understand how to use conjunctions.
