Science: Today, we discussed Gravity through a powerpoint and completed one worksheet together. The students have to complete the questions to the reading passage as homework. We will be discussing the questions tomorrow, so they will be due then.
Social Studies: We discussed the quizzes they took yesterday and began on the next section by reading and highlighting important information about the Eastern Woodland Native Americans.

Writing: The students continued writing on their articles they selected from a National Geographic.

Science: Today the students took a test over Acids and Chemical Reactions.

Social Studies: The students completed a worksheet and took an open note/open book quiz over the Southwest and Pacific Northwest Native Americans.

Writing: The students continued their writing on an article they selected from a National Geographic.

Science: The students took notes today and discussed what they are going to be seeing on the test. The circled numbers are questions they should expect to see on the test. The students will be reviewing tomorrow and taking the test on Monday.



Social Studies: We discussed Plains Native Americans and information they needed to highlight. We made vocabulary foldable, and the students began filling in the blanks on their Tribe Column using their articles they read. 



Writing: The students continued writing their articles about Dwight D. Eisenhower and an article they choose from a National Geographic. We also discussed Wax Museum.

Science: The students were in the lab mixing substances together to create a new material that they could take home. We discussed that making new material by mixing substances together is called a chemical reaction.


Social Studies: The students read the article about Plains Native Americans and practiced highlighting important information from the text. We read it together as a classed and discussed what they should have highlighted.

Writing: Many students continued their writing about Dwight D. Eisenhower. If the students were done, they were to choose an article from the National Geographic magazine to read, highlight, and write two paragraphs about the article they read. 



January 24, 2017

Science: Today the students were in the lab. The students were to mix different substances together to discover what substances created a new material. When the students discovered the new material, we discussed Chemical Reactions and how we make various materials in our world.


Social Studies: We discussed the Pacific Northwest Native Americans and the fill-in-the-blank worksheet they did yesterday. Next, we discussed cause and effect and completed a worksheet together over causes and effects with the Pacific Northwest Region.

Writing: The students continued their writing about Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Today they students had a substitute.

Science: The students complete two worksheets. The questions they answered are questions that will show up on their test.



Social Studies: Today the students completed a fill-in-the-blank worksheet over the Pacific Northwest Native Americans article they read. 
Writing: The students continued their writing about Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Social Studies: We discussed Pacific Northwest Native Americans and important information to highlight. The students made a vocabulary foldable for totem pole and potlatch and discussed what they were. The students were given a totem pole worksheet to complete on their own.



Science: The students were in the lab today to test substances that react with acids.

Writing: The students continued writing their informational texts on Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Social Studies: The students read the article about the Pacific Northwest Native Americans and high lighted important information they found in the text. Next, we read the article together as a class and discussed.


Science: The students watch a couple short videos about acids. We discussed properties of acids and how they react with other substances.

Writing: The students began writing their informational texts about Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Science: The students took a test over Corrosion.

Writing: We discussed informational texts and how to highlight important information.

Science:

Today the students took notes and reviewed questions that will be on the test tomorrow, Friday 13. 
The test will consist of 10 questions. The highlighted sentences are what the students should expect to see on their test. The students have watched videos, discussed, experimented, reviewed, and took notes to prepare them for this test. I also gave the students a 3-question review for them to do as they study tonight.

Today the students learned about the Southwest Native Americans. We learned about informational texts and how to find important facts. We discussed headings, bold words, text features, pictures, and graphs. The students were to read the article and then highlight important information.
